Marie Boutteçon

My skills: Product design, production supervision (sourcing & craftsmanship), product environment design, marketing & product strategy. Illustrations, gouache.

Background: Master’s degree in Fashion, Accessories and Luxury Goods. I've worked for luxury fashion houses prior to working for luxury watch manufactures.

My strengths: great-quality work - the devil is in the detail! I'm eager to craft new creations with this important, extra touch of soul that goes into everything I do. Emotional, passionate, positive!

My story:

I'm a 28-year old designer and creative director in the luxury watch and high jewelry industry. I was raised in the French countryside, very close to Switzerland, surrounded by fields and a garden. I was also immersed in the world of art in the same time. It’s evident that family plays a big part in my life and work. My father is a master of wood marquetry and is recognised globally for his precision, accuracy and craftsmanship. He has created pieces for several well known and respected brands such as Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Patek Philippe. He now works exclusively for the latter.

Through observing my dad, watchmaking became a natural interest early in my childhood, as I discovered the creations of various houses, the different artistic careers and the infinite possibilities of creation. I am certain that creation is a state of mind, where all creative professionals meet, between haute couture and Haute Horlogerie, between silk brocades and gold laces and where each art object creates history and tells a story.

After finishing a Bachelor’s degree, I went to the south of France to study fashion and then onto Lyon, where I obtained a Master’s degree in Fashion, Accessories and Luxury Goods. After my studies, I had fashion experiences at Hermès at 24 Faubourg St Honoré, Paris as graphic designer for Carré d'Hermès and then for Parisian fashion designer Barbara Bui in the Marais as a stylist.

I began my career in the watch industry as the artistic director of Parmigiani Fleurier, which gave me the opportunity to be watch designer. I’ve created collections as well as a lot of unique timepieces for clients who want something extra to add to their private collections.

Being entrepreneurial and learning relentlessly, I decided that I could develop my own career, designing for several Swiss manufacturers. This is what I focus on today, working for watch brands as well as for private clients worldwide.

I create refined jewelry too. My jewelry collection is made up of three tiers; bespoke, high jewelry, and an experimental range of ideas through Bug Me jewels, which I created with the talented designer Etienne Ruffieux.  Until now, my jewelry collection has been very specific because I create bespoke jewelry for private clients around the world and especially for Middle Eastern clients.
