The inspiration for Toric Quaestor Ripple & pine models was a Japanese garden. Sometimes inspiration can be found in the idyllic islands of fine sand, forming concentric waves and curls, causing the association with relaxing tides, while a pine tree makes a balanced garden. This story was embodied on the face of the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Quaestor watches, which praise Japanese Zen philosophy.
Dial Toric pine is made of different colors of gold, like rose and yellow gold 18 ct. The thorn pine are engraved in gold and this painstaking, very fine work reflects much volume and returns a lot of light.
The dial of the Toric Quaestor Ripple is made of solid gold, while the engraved motif is made by hand, to create a wave of varying depth and achieve the effect of perspective. Each groove has been engraved in the master's hand, and then made for better drawing of borders, while remaining very thin and narrow. The white gold shell extends through a characteristic pattern of the dial for cabinet models and have Toric rings embossed with a knurled pattern. The crown is decorated with a cabochon ruby, which supplements the design model. A tobacco-colored alligator strap is made for this unique model by Hermès.
